For nearly 130 years, the American Red Cross has provided services to victims of disaster, war and other emergencies. Part of the largest humanitarian organization in the world, the Red Cross provides disaster relief 24 hours, 365 days a years.
The Triangle Area chapter primarily serves the counties of Wake, Johnston, Franklin, Lee, Chatham and Warren Counties; however, our services may reach the entire world.

- More than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.
- The average adult has about 10 pints of blood in his body. Roughly 1 pint is given during a donation.
- The blood type most often requested by hospitals is Type O.
- A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood.
- More than 1 million new people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment.
- The actual blood donation typically takes less than 10-12 minutes.
